The world is breaking new ground everyday; our scientific research is showing us the importance of equality and human rights. But there are still a lot of differences in preferences, characters and point of views between men and women, and a lot of disputable similarities that we may misunderstand or are unaware of, which lead to a lot of disputes, contradictions and discrimination. How are we going to close up the gap between the two sexes?
These differences between men and women vary between different civilizations, countries, colors and religions. Different groups may have different standard in morality, equality and human right. With the rising of feminism, more and more women are doing men's jobs and having men's strength and personality. But in general, the majority still has the following differences and similarities:

The differences
(1) In the men's world, a lot of the husbands still think making money is their responsibility, housekeeping, cooking, taking care of the children are the responsibilities of the wives, no matter if their wives have daily jobs or not. Therefore, women are doing a lot of extra works and accumulating a lot of stress, while the men are relaxing with beers and chips watching television. But some husbands are doing all the works at home, in exchange for respect and obedience from their wives when they are outside with friends.
(2) A lot of times, men are discriminating against women in work or at home. They think women are no good doing manual work, they lack the muscles and strength, and will double the time in doing the same work.
(3) Women are more perceptual than men are. Women are showing stronger emotions in death, disasters or changes. They will usually take longer time to repair the wound than men will.
(4) Men are more rational than women are. Men are better in controlling emotions, giving rational reasons or explanation, and comforting the grieved women.
(5) Women are nosier than men are. Women care for a lot more different things than men, they will care for how other dress, which stores are on sale, which celebrities are divorcing, or who has a new boy friend.
(6) Men are more impetuous and violent than women are. Maybe because they are more muscular and powerful, they will rather fix their problems with fist and blood.
(7) Female are superb in using their gentle, softness and tears to conquer the male. When females are crying and grieving, even the most ferocious male can be melted.
(8) Women need more companion and general care, men need more free time and space to do what they like or drink with friends. They want to continue their life style and habits just like before marriage.
(9) Women have a sharp voice, which is quite shocking sometimes, especially when they are laughing or complaining about something, this is quite annoying to certain men sometimes.
(10) Women like the protection from men, and men like to protect women. Wherever women are being harassed or having disputes, the men will actively stretch out their helping hands to help the women.
(11) Men are suppose to show their gentleness in front of ladies, like yielding the way, pulling the chair, or pouring the drinks.
(12) Men are more serious about their dignity than women, because men are tied to the symbol of masculinity. Therefore they will fight for any question about their masculinity or dignity.
(13) Men are braver to try dangerous sports and take dangerous works than women are. Men are more interested into high-speed, colliding or bloodletting sports, and men don't mind to work in an environment full of danger or fierce animals.
(14) People are more about men pursuing women than women pursuing men. Women using courting to pursue men sometimes are considered tortuous and disparaging their own self.
(15) We usually accept the husbands making more money than the wives, but the vice versa will make the husbands lose face and dignity. A lot of people will look down upon them.
(16) Wives depend on husbands to make their living are totally acceptable, but husbands who are able to work but depend on wives for food and money, will be considered a sponger or parasite.
(17) A lot of time, females are standing on the side of other females regardless of right or wrong, especially when they are arguing with males. This type of support doesn't happen too often among males, maybe because males are a bit more rational than females.

The similarities
(1) Both men and women are self-centered, both sides are judging with their own angles and point of views.
(2) Both men and women are selfish. They may be willing to sacrifice their time, interests or values to go along with the other half at the beginning of dating, but once they have been hurt or cheated, they will start protecting themselves, and be selfish again.
(3) Men like to compare between women, and women like to compare between men. Men like to compare women about their figures, looks, height and long legs; women like to compare men about their wealth, looks, height and vehicles they drive.
(4) Both sides need recognition from the others. Recognition has direct consequence to our confidence, attitude and determination. This is especially important to our children, their future for being successful or failure, healthy life style or mental breakdown; banker or thief, are all determine by the amount of proper recognition and support.
(5) Everyone wants to be loved; this is one of the emotions hiding deep inside our souls. Even the most ferocious killer Adolph Hitler, could not resist the temptation and love from women.
(6) Both men and women are discriminative; they will judge people by their colors, sexes, sexual preferences, ages, sizes, clothing, etc. Why are we discriminative? Simply because we think we are better in some fields.
(7) Both men and women are as stubborn as a mule. The reason why we are stubborn about something is because we can not visualize humanity thoroughly, to find out all the merits and demerits of everything. Therefore, our stubbornness is mostly messing up rather than building up. A lot of time, we are forced to be stubborn by others' criticism to sustain our dignity and principle.
(8) Both men and women are trying to amend the other sides. We all want the other side to be cooperative and live up to our standard and requirement. However, both sides are rebellious, revengeful, selfish and self-centered, therefore, neither side yields.
(9) Both sides will give advice. Usually the more informed side will more actively give advice, if both sides think they are more informed, then arguments is inevitable.
(10) Both sides have poor tempers. Temper is mostly caused by impatience, selfishness, self-center, criticism or righteousness, we will explode when someone is doing something naive, careless or offensive.
(11) Both sides are jealous. Deep inside our soul, men and women are exactly the same in jealousy, but usually male can hide it a bit better than females.
(12) Both sides have trouble keeping their promises. Simply because we haven't considered thoroughly about the difficulties before making promises, and whether we have enough abilities, mentality and patience to handle promises. Usually men are forced to make more promises than women.
(13) Both sides need proper caring. Proper caring means giving support, help or encouragement when we are sick, having difficulties or make mistakes. Also, female needs more company and care about there inside feeling and male needs care about there outside habits like cleaning up their mess.
(14) Both sides are denying responsibilities, especially when dealing with their children. Our rebellious nature will not accept any blame for not taking good care of the children; we will strike back with the same blame.
(15) Both sides will start a fight. Either side will lose control if the other side keeps on adding fuel to the fire. But usually the male side will get all the blame, because they are hitting a lot harder than the female.
(16) Both sides will have affair. Women no longer need to go to jail, or be drown in a pig cage in China for affairs, so why not?
(17) Both male and female are suspicious. The only difference is female have higher awareness, they will carefully observe the slightest unusual movement or behavior of the male, that male will usually miss or take them longer to aware from female.

In the ancient time, men and women were living under fixed and conservative life style; a lot of straight rules were applied on both men and women to control their freedom and thinking. As the breakthrough in technologies and human thinking, our world is moving into better enlightenment and higher level of consciousness.
The above differences and similarities have changed drastically since the ancient time, we have drastic improvement especially in the field of discrimination, feminism and human right. We are moving away from slavery, autocratic monarchy, and class society to democracy, capitalism, freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom of belief, mixed marriage, and homosexual legalization.
